Biography

Antonio Manganelli, Ph.D., is professor of Competition Law and Policy at the University of Siena (Italy) and research fellow at the Centre on Regulation in Europe (CERRE). Previously, he was professor of Antitrust and Regulation at the University of Rome, LUMSA and research associate at the European University Institute, where he coordinated the Communications and Media area of the Florence School of Regulation.
He also served as Deputy Head of Cabinet and Advisor to the Italian Minister of Economic Development, supervising telecom, media, and digital markets policy. He previously served in the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the Office of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC office); the Italian Regulator for Electronic Communications, Media, and Postal sectors (AGCOM); the Research department at the Italian Central Bank (Banca d’Italia).
Antonio holds a M.Sc. in Political Science and Economic Policy and a Ph.D. in Law and Economics from the University of Siena.
