Biography

Timothy B. Folta (Ph.D. Purdue University) is Professor and Thomas John and Bette Wolff Family Chair of Strategic Entrepreneurship at University of Connecticut. His research examines strategic resource allocation under uncertainty in both entrepreneurship and corporate strategy, and has garnered a number of awards, including the 2012 IDEA Foundational Paper Award by the Entrepreneurship Division at the Academy of Management honoring a paper that has powerfully and positively changed the conversation in the field of entrepreneurship for at least a decade.

Timothy Folta was the 2020-21 Chair of the Strategic Management Division of the Academy of Management, an organization with nearly 6,000 global members. He currently has an appointment by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to Co-Chair a committee tasked with evaluating the Department of Energy Small Business Innovation Research Program.

He also co-hosts an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Policy Research virtual seminar series; and is a Visiting Research Professor at Instituto de Empresa (Madrid).
