Join the launch of the 'Research Handbook on Competition & Technology', published by Edward Elgar Publishing in 2025. This comprehensive volume, edited by Pier Luigi Parcu, Maria Alessandra Rossi, and Marco Botta, delves into the complex interplay between digital technologies and competition law.
The digital economy has profoundly transformed global markets, revolutionising how firms operate and compete, and how consumers choose and access products. Digital markets exhibit several unique characteristics that differentiate them from traditional markets, and which potentially represent entry barriers for new players. In fact, a strong tendency towards the concentration of economic resources has emerged in the last years. These developments have made more salient the role of competition policy, while challenging established approaches to enforcement.
During this event, editors will present the Research Handbook on Competition and Technology, which offers an in-depth exploration of how digital transformation is reshaping market dynamics and regulatory frameworks. It addresses critical topics such as data-driven market power, algorithmic collusion, the gig economy, and the implications of artificial intelligence on competition policy.
The volume includes 19 contributions from leading academics, analysing competitive dynamics and competition policy enforcement in digital markets, as well as the interaction of antitrust and sector regulation in the digital economy.
