Join Ettore Lombardi as we discuss his new book 'Digitization, Copyright, and the Law: Copyleft and the Future of Intellectual Property', which explores copyleft and its impact on traditional concepts of property.
This talk explores the impact of digitalisation on copyright and examines the potential effects of copyleft within the European market, as well as in both European and international legal contexts. It delves into the evolving landscape of intellectual property, highlighting the shift from physical to intangible assets. While digitalisation has significantly increased accessibility, it has also disrupted traditional intellectual property frameworks. The discussion will evaluate common ownership structures and consider the challenges posed by intangible property, open source, and Creative Commons in relation to current legal systems. By examining the influence of copyleft on copyright and ownership laws, Ettore Lombardi will address the rights of authors and creators, as well as the legal limits and complications arising from these new forms of intangible asset ownership.
The Malafrasca Digital Talks are a series of lunchtime presentations organised by the Centre for a Digital Society and The Centre for media Pluralism and Media Freedom. In these sessions, renowned experts share their knowledge on core issues related to the centre's main research areas, fostering dynamic discussions that encourage questions, debate, and knowledge sharing.
